We create online experiences. And we do that using pioneering technologies, tools and practices. We live and breathe online development. You'll regularly find us discussing HTML 5 or CSS3 over breakfast, or deliberating the latest Laravel release with an afternoon doughnut.
Frankly, you don't really need to know what we do; you just need to know that we've the skills to build your project in the most efficient, cost effective, future proof way possible. It's what makes us tick.
There's usually coffee and snacks close by. And we like to keep our clients close too. We think it's important to get them involved every step of the way – it leads to a clearer, more efficient process and outcome. Talking of process, we stick with our own bespoke method of plan, build, test and deploy.
It works. All of the projects we've worked on to date have come through repeat business or recommendations. It's a fact we're proud of. And happy clients make for a happy team, and a happy team leads to a better business, so we're always keen to go that extra mile for clients wherever we can.
We work with agencies and SMEs. Agencies come to us when they need specialist development support. We either work as their dedicated technical team, or slot in alongside their their existing team. We often get involved at pitch and design stages and we're more than comfortable going right the way through to client training and handover. Our approach enables agencies to confidently get on with other aspects of the project leaving the technical development in safe hands.
We also work directly with SMEs. We can fit in with your existing design and marketing team, or if you are looking for a complete design and build solution, we'll call on a few of our trusted friends to build a reliable team that meets your business requirements. In all cases - for agency or SME - we believe in being proactive throughout the project lifecyle; we find it leads to a more successful outcome for all involved.
Here comes the science bit. We work primarily with the ExpressionEngine CMS and Laravel, CodeIgniter and AngularJS frameworks. Sometimes our clients need us to create CMS extensions, and sometimes we're asked to create complete, bespoke solutions (or even a combination of both). We're flexible. And competent.
We're also comfortable implementing ecommerce solutions; from big etailers to small online stores. We understand the importance of security and PCI compliance regardless of the size of the operation. We're big on sharing too, so we're always happy* to pass on our advice and experience.* As long as there's coffee involved.
Here are a few examples of our work and what our clients say about us.
“Updating the 1D site required significant overhaul of some legacy code; FUEL and Studio Output handled this with elegant solutions to complex problems.”
Dan Ayres, Web Manager
Our close working relationship with the Studio Output design team and Sony Music Entertainment's internal technical team enabled us to deliver a new high traffic site for the world's largest boy-band.
“We moved all of our front end web development to FUEL because we found that they delivered faster whilst also feeling like they were a part of our core team.”
Matt Mills, Founder + Strategy
Our team work closely with the team at Futureshare to deliver a number of projects. We took on the Imperial Hotels project as it was nearing launch and continue to build on this very successful project by further streamlining the online booking process.
We worked closely with brand designers, the central IT team at Arcadia and their systems provider IBM, to prototype and build an extensive UI for all product pages and the user checkout flow, integrated into their Websphere Commerce platform.
We've been working with the Pomegranate team for several years now. The Inspired Challenge site is one of our most recent projects, integrated with a third party tour operator system, and enabling customers to create personal fundraising pages for the tours they book through the site.
“The project ran incredibly well; their approach to input from us as the client was really positive. Design wise they were of a high quality and they delivered a successful end result, on budget which has been really popular with our audiences.”
James Odell, Digital Manager
James and his team approached us to design and develop a suite of HTML newsletter templates for Mailchimp. We took that a step further by devising a single modular template with scope to produce virtually limitless layouts for any email campaign, simplifying workflow and elevating the brand.
We're based in the beautiful city of Bath.
